Slowdown in retail sales growth
Figures from the Office for National Statistics show that retail sales volume in the three months October to December rose by 0.4 per cent compared with the previous three months. This follows 1.0 per cent growth in the three months to November.
More supermarkets 'should be allowed'
A report by the Competition Commission has said that in most areas the UK groceries market was delivering "a good deal for consumers" but more competition is needed in certain areas.
